I’ve been performing as DJ Olmec for over 5 years now. Here are two of my favorite and most recent mixes. In 2009 I produced and published weekly podcasts for RCRDLBL. Each track was pre-selected, presenting a unique mixing challenge.
I’ve also sound designed for games, film and stage.
Soundscapes are typically documented with a single stationary microphone. This reduces a rich sonic experience to just a single point. My project sought a more embodied and immersive medium for soundscape representation.
I made 15 simultaneous recordings at equidistant points throughout the Vassar College Dining Hall. Using the Source engine, I placed each recording as a sound emitter within a scale model of the original space. Users could move throughout the virtual space to interactively experience the original sonic landscape.
